In addition to the standard personal data (top artists, songs, etc.), Spotify is providing listeners with social-friendly statistics the company hopes will create the same kind of buzz as in the past.
Spurred by the success of this annual recap, apps like Apple Music and YouTube Music have started to release their own year-end roundups in an effort to take on the Swedish music platform.
The “music personality” feature, a brand-new addition to Wrapped 2022 – a system, inspired by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), that evaluates your listening habits and groups you into one of 16 complimentary categories, including Adventurer, Connoisseur, Enthusiast, Specialist, and Time Traveler. Considering current trends, it’s certainly a clever move because, be it zodiac signs or Hogwarts houses, folks simply love to be categorized.
The new Wrapped also breaks down listeners’ daily routines, revealing which “musical moods” you gravitate to in the morning, afternoon, and night. Additionally, Spotify is bringing back artist messages where celebrities like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and J Balvin express their gratitude to fans for supporting them so much to make it on their Spotify Wrapped.
Spotify has also revealed the platform’s top performers, with Puerto Rican singer and rapper Bad Bunny continuing to hold the title of most streamed musician worldwide (for the third consecutive year). In the United States, the top artists of 2022 were:
- Drake
- Taylor Swift
- Bad Bunny
- Kanye West
- The Weeknd.
The most popular podcast this year was The Joe Rogan Experience, followed by Call Her Daddy, Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain, Caso 63 and Crime Junkie.
