U.S. operator Verizon recently announced that it had achieved 5.5 Gbps download speeds in a test environment, setting a new benchmark in the 5G space. This impressive result was made possible by an intelligent combination of different frequency bands, including C-band and millimeter wave (mmWave) technology, which together deliver exceptional speed and network capacity.

The demonstration took place in Verizon’s Texas lab, where engineers tested a new spectrum aggregation technology known as carrier aggregation. The mmWave layer provides high capacity and ultra-fast connections, while the C-band ensures broader coverage and more stable connectivity at mid-range frequencies. This combination could enable future users to enjoy maximum speeds and reliability, even in densely populated urban areas.
