Commercial users are included in 5G testing on the 3.5 GHz frequency band, which will enable not only new network capabilities but also two to three times higher speeds and greater usability in many sectors. Gigabit speeds were measured at today’s tests on the 3.5 GHz network of Hrvatski Telekom in Zagreb.
Users encompassed in tests will be informed and will not incur any additional costs and will be able to use the benefits of an even faster 5G network. Commercial operation of the 5G network on the 3.5 GHz spectrum will begin after the conclusion of the public spectrum auction for the 700 MHz, 3.5 GHz, and 26 GHz frequency bands, scheduled for the first half of 2021.
At the end of 2020, Hrvatski Telekom introduced the first commercial 5G network in Croatia based on Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology, which currently covers 17 towns and cities and more than 1.2 million inhabitants. According to the telco, in 2021 they will continue to grow coverage and introduce even higher speeds.
