The construction of the Gaming Industry Center is set to begin soon in Novska’s business zone. This groundbreaking European project will feature an incubator and accelerator for the gaming sector, university-level infrastructure for gaming industry studies, as well as student and sports facilities.
On Tuesday, a contract was signed with the construction company Tromont, which has been introduced to the site. The first phase of the project, valued at €38.7 million, is scheduled for completion within two years, with construction expected to commence by the end of February.
The project is spearheaded by the Public Institution Regional Coordinator of Sisak-Moslavina County, in partnership with Sisak-Moslavina County, the SIMORA Development Agency, and the City of Novska. The contract was signed by the institution’s director, Andreja Šeperac, in the presence of Minister of Labor, Pension System, Family and Social Policy Marin Piletić, Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Šime Erlić, the Sisak-Moslavina County Prefect Ivan Celjak, and Novska Mayor Marija Kušmiš.
During the signing event, Minister Erlić presented Šeperac with an amendment to the grant agreement, increasing funding due to rising costs. Originally, €26 million in non-repayable funds had been allocated in June, but additional financial support has now been secured. Erlić emphasized that the Croatian government fully supports the project and is actively negotiating with the European Commission to fund the second phase of construction.
The Gaming Industry Center will serve as a key hub for the country’s gaming ecosystem, featuring university study programs, a student dormitory, sports complexes, an energy plant, and improved transport infrastructure.
County prefect Celjak hailed the project as a crucial step forward for Novska and the region, while Mayor Kušmiš recalled that the idea of the gaming center was conceived nine years ago and has already significantly contributed to the city’s development. She anticipates that the project’s continuation will attract young talent, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the standard of living in Novska.
