SESSION MANAGEMENT FUNCTION

The Session Management Function (SMF) is one of the main components of the 5G core network control plane according to Service Based Architecture. It includes various functionalities related to subscriber sessions, e.g. session establishment, modification, and release, as well as the necessary communication to the User Plane Function for full management of user data flow.
