2021 marked a revolution of sorts in the world of technology and telecommunications in Croatia – 5G networks were deployed and HAKOM allocated frequencies for the development of 5G across multiple spectrums.

Vodafone and Sky Sport have successfully tested a new 5G application during a recent Bundesliga match. The goal is to allow the fans in the stadium to experience all the features of the broadcaster’s live coverage in real time.

Zagreb was visited by Huawei’s 5G truck, showcasing cutting edge 5G-enabled digital solutions. All visitors had the opportunity to step into the future and try out the latest technology and a number of top gadgets.

Having won several titles of best Croatian mobile network this year, Hrvatski Telekom (HT) has now received the “Best in Test” award for the best fixed broadband service.

5G provides entirely new possibilities for the use of machines in different vertical and other industries, as well as the application of new business models that were unimaginable until recently.

According to a new forecast by CSS Insight, about 560 million 5G-capable smartphones will be sold worldwide in 2021 alone, bringing the number of global 5G connections to 637 million.
