5G network

U.S. operators AT&T and Verizon will launch their 5G network on January 19 after the federal government forced them to postpone the deployment of fifth-generation network for two weeks at the insistence of the aviation industry.

In a joint open letter, the executives of U.S. telecommunications companies Verizon and AT&T rejected the request from the federal government to delay their planned January 5 launch of 5G services for two weeks. The companies did, however, agree not to set up a 5G network near air-ports for a six-month period, but believe it would be irresponsible to delay the development of the global economy due to unfounded fears of the aviation industry.

The rollout of 5G networks will bring about growth in telecom revenue, with most of industries’ revenue coming from next-generation network services. These are the findings of a new study by the reputable analyst house Juniper Research, which predicts that the revenue generated from 5G services will reach $600 billion by 2026, representing 77% of global operator revenue.

Huawei is still the global leader in the telecom equipment industry, which includes all telecommunications infrastructure, from broadband access, mobile core and RAN, SP routers, etc. These were the findings of Dell’Oro Group for the third quarter of 2021.

The speed of the construction of 5G infrastructure will largely depend on local units and the agility of local authorities to boost investments and provide building permits. Although the digitalization and implementation of the next-generation network is the goal supported by the plans of three line ministries, it will be difficult to realize without the cities’ help.

The Croatian government is changing its paradigm in relation to supporting the economy, so instead of rescuing fallen companies, it will direct EU funding transfers to the most propulsive industries, including the ICT industry.

The European Commission has sent warnings to Croatia, Estonia, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Cyprus, Lat-via, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Sweden for failing to fully adopt new European telecom regulation (the European Electronic Communications Code), into their national legislation.

This is another contribution to the balanced development of Croatia and the provision of a level playing field for work, education, and even entertainment in areas without adequate fixed infrastructure, the telco reports.
