Global smartphone sales fell by six percent in the third quarter in relation to the same period last year, but rose at the same rate compared to the second quarter. A total of 342 million smartphones were shipped worldwide in the three months from July to the end of September.

Samsung, global leader on the smartphone market, has seriously thwarted the plans of its biggest competitors in the smartwatch segment. Apple continues to sell the most smartwatches in the world, according to sales data from the third quarter, but its share is declining as Samsung’s is on the rise.

The shipment volume of 5G smartphones in China jumped by 80 percent in the first eight months of the year, as the Chinese ordered 168 million 5G mobile phones by the end of August.

The new iPhone 13 series will be launched in Croatia this Friday, and the prices are not modest at all. Specifically, the cost of the new smartphone, which promises better 5G support compared to the previous model, will range from HRK 7,500 to almost HRK 15,000.

Apple is facing public criticism following the announcement that its fall software update would include a photo scanning option to identify child abuse and pornography imagery.

In just three months, from April to the end of June, 50.1 million smartphones were sold in Europe, so total sales increased by a whopping 14 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

Samsung is still the leader in the smartphone market, however, for the first time in history, Chinese Xiaomi took second place in terms of sales, pulling ahead of Apple – according to reports from the analyst firm Canalys.

Relevant analysts are convinced that the new iPhone SE will be the cheapest 5G iPhone ever. Apple will launch an updated version of the iPhone SE in 2022, probably in the spring.

Microsoft is the second company in American history whose stock market value exceeded two trillion (2,000 billion) dollars.

Pandemic notwithstanding, some smartphone manufacturers have recorded significant growth in sales on the domestic market.
